illegible address by Denver Butson (cloth)
$ 25

In his third collection of poems, Denver Butson, winner of a 2003 New York Foundation for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship, brings us more of what W.S. Merwin calls his "subtle and evocative language." In poems that attempt "to argue with smoke," Butson merges real and imagined street scenes, true and possibly false memories, earnest and playful love pleas. He celebrates what was there before it is gone, laments what will be gone while it is still there. Butson sends postcards to us, wherever we are with our illegible addresses, and hopes we'll be there when he comes home.
